REVIEW: Cruel Sanctuary by Tara Leigh

Cruel Sanctuary is a must read and is hands down a 5+ Star read for this book whore!

Two words.
One name.
Damon King.

This man OWNED me. The “fixer” is not someone you want to mess with and you definitely don’t want to be anywhere near his radar, but in your bed…mmmm yes please. I love a great anti-hero and this man…this unbelievably ruthless, cocky man…is the ultimate! You will love to hate him and his crude ways.

Aislinn Granville is the girl everyone wants or wants to be. She has is all, or so it seems. She’s smart, sassy and beautiful, but full of secrets. When she learns nothing is what she thought it was, Aislinn is swept away by her protector. But not without a fight.

She is the kind of heroine I love to read about. Strong and confident that can hold her own in any situation and will never bow at any man’s feet. As the story progresses we see them both circling each other. Drawn like magnets, unable to resist the pull.  Damon walks the line between light and dark, tipping more on the dark side, but Aislinn is his light in the shadows.

Review: Risky Play by Rachel Van Dyken

review-lips copy

This author is a 1-click for me. Every single book is enthralling. Mackenzie DuPont and Slade Rodriguez had amazing chemistry, even if Slade was doing everything to push her away. I get it, kind of. He was hurting before he met her, then started falling for her, because let’s face it, Mack is ah-mah-zing. Then when tragedy strikes, he blames her because he needs to place blame somewhere.

Poor Mack. Mackenzie didn’t plan on meeting this amazing man while on her way to her honeymoon destination alone after being left at the alter. One fake name and several adventures later, she was heartbroken for a second time when the amazing man she was getting to know disappeared without a word. Taking what was left of her heart and her virginity with him.

Slade needed to get away and in the process started falling for the innocent woman who made him feel alive again after a public scandal rocked his world.

“I realized I would do anything to make this stranger smile at me like that again. One. Day. In.”

But one bad phone call and he took off without a backward glance siting she was to blame. Color them both surprised when she becomes his new assistant!

I can’t get enough of these characters. There were a couple of times I gasped thinking I had figured it all out only to be completely surprised by the events unfolding. And others that had me giggling like a fifteen year old boy.

“Damn, you need a keeper.”
“Just sent the flowers, alright?”
“And the note? What should that say, ‘Please don’t press charges, my dick knows not what it does?'”

This book was sweet and full of emotion. These two characters couldn’t be better matched, only if they would both forgive and forget. If something is worth having, it’s worth fighting for. I can’t wait for the next book in this engrossing series!

“Name one thing you would have done differently.”
“One thing,”
“Just one.”
“I already did it-I kissed you. And then I jumped.”

Even one-night stands deserve a second chance in New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken’s novel of sporting desire.

What else can a virgin do when she’s ditched at the altar? Seattle heiress Mackenzie Dupont is treating herself to a single-girl honeymoon in Mexico and a desire to relinquish her innocence to a gorgeous one-night stand. Fake names. True pleasure. But when she wakes up alone, Mackenzie realizes just how much anger is left in her broken heart.

Suffering a tragic personal loss, pro soccer player Slade Rodriguez has his reasons for vanishing without a goodbye. Right or wrong, he’s blaming the beautiful and infuriating stranger he never wants to see again. They’re both in for a shock when Mackenzie shows up as his new personal assistant. And they both have a lot to learn about each other. Because they share more than they could possibly know, including a common enemy who’s playing his own games. And he’s not afraid to get dirty.

Now there’s only one way Mackenzie and Slade can win: to trust in each other and to stop hiding from the lies they’ve told, the secrets they’ve kept, the mistakes they’ve made, and the attraction that still burns between them.

Review: Malum, part 1 by Amo Jones

IT’S LIVE! Malum, part 1 is live and another 5 Star review from me. I can’t wait for part 2 since this one left us hanging!

I need more!! This book was wickedly unique. Amo Jones never ceases to pull me into her enigmatic reads having me addicted by page one. MALUM is the 4th book the the Elite Kings series. This is Nate and Tillie’s story!!

What can I say…I’m blown away…AGAIN! Nate was always the care free jokester in my mind. Always quick with a joke and ready for a party. We see a darker side of him in this book. Tillie was so enamored with Nate. He was different with her until s**t went down that made her leave and left him a little broken.

She’s back and everyone better watch the eff out! She’s not the same girl and after what goes down in this book, both Tillie and Nate are left shattered. I still think everything happens for a reason and these two are soooo meant to be.

I can’t wait for the next book to see if all their broken pieces fit into each other or if there is still some breaking to be had. We shall see.

“Love is savage, love is blind, love is something they may not find…”
Once upon a time, there was a young girl who lived in a battered trailer, a girl from the wrong side of the tracks.
One day, she fell down The Elite Kings’ rabbit hole. Sucked into a dark vortex of lies, hate, and deceit, and spat out by money, glitz, and power.
There were things this little girl didn’t know, things she was about to find out and secrets that have been kept from her. Those secrets were guarded by the boys that were about to smash her world open and tear it all apart…
He may be a Malum, but she is a Stuprum, born into this world but neglected by the choice of her mother. Her eyes may not glisten with stars, but they roar with fire, and when she finally reaches her peak, it’s that same fire that will burn.
My name is Tillie Stuprum, and my story is not like the rest.
Everything she thought she knew is a fabricated version of the truth. I’m Nate Riverside-Malum, the one your girl whispers about to her friends and whose initials are scratched down your back. Her story is not like the rest of them, because her story is dead.

Review: Blackwood by Celia Aaron

Holy twisted goodness! What did I just read!

OMG! I don’t know how to form the words I need to describe how very much I loved this book. I HIGHLY suggest you read/listen to it.

Jeezus! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. What a mystery! Just when I thought I had it all figured out, there were more turns. And don’t even get me started on the HOT AF sex! That was twisted in itself and I loved it!

It is also on Audible and the narration is phenomenal and had me completely enthralled! I’m off to binge on more of Celia Aaron’s books.

I dig. It’s what I do. I’ll literally use a shovel to answer a question. Some answers, though, have been buried too deep for too long. But I’ll find those, too. And I know where to dig—the Blackwood Estate on the edge of the Mississippi Delta. Garrett Blackwood is the only thing standing between me and the truth. A broken man—one with desires that dance in the darkest part of my soul—he’s either my savior or my enemy. I’ll dig until I find all his secrets. Then I’ll run so he never finds mine. The only problem? He likes it when I run.

Author’s Note: This is a standalone mystery/suspense romance with violence and explicit/intense sex. If you need a trigger warning, then this isn’t the book for you.

Review: Just Exes by Charity Ferrell

4 Stars

This is book three in the Blue Beech series and is Lauren and Gage’s story.

Lauren and Gage were high school sweethearts and had planned a future together, but Lauren mysteriously ended up breaking things off and refused to tell Gage why. They both went separate ways. Now ten years later, he is back in Blue Beech, Iowa to help his ailing father, as one of the local cops.

This was so well written. I love second chance love stories. Factor in some suspense and mystery, I’m yours. I loved these characters. Ms. Ferrell does a wonderful job of pulling the reader into the story. I seriously did not want to put this book down and by the end I was emotionally spent.

Let’s talk about the characters.

Lauren was sweet and a little naive if not loyal. She was the good girl that sacrificed her happiness to only to lessen someone else’s burden. I really liked her. Although there were a couple of Gage’s actions that I would have liked to see her react a little differently (ie the part he explained about the other women) She was so compassionate and trusting even after being hurt so badly (which she blamed herself for).

Gage was devastated after the breakup, rightfully so, but he tried to move on the best he could. He never got over the love of his life enough to fully move on though which caused a lot of issues that led to the tragedy that led him back home. I loved his character. Did I want to junk punch him on several occasions, yes, yes I did. But he was operating on the knowledge he had, not the full truth of what happened between them.

Overall, I think this series is utterly fantastic and this book was quite possibly my favorite so far.

Running into an ex you haven’t seen in nearly a decade is never a good time.

Running into your ex while he’s arresting you is humiliating.

Running into an ex you haven’t seen in nearly a decade is never a good time.

Running into your ex while he’s arresting you is humiliating.

The handcuffs close around my fists at the same time he promises to hate me until he takes his last breath.

I can’t blame him. He pleaded for me not to walk away.
He doesn’t know leaving him broke my heart as much as it did his.
It wasn’t for me. Rather, it was for someone else.

I skipped town after Hurricane Lauren obliterated my heart.
Coming home was a hard choice to make. Arresting her isn’t.
She has no idea of the demons I carry with me now. No idea that I’m a new man.

Two women ruined me.
One I gave my heart to.
The other punished me for it.
