“She’s my undoing before we’ve even begun.”

Sacred is book three in the Kingwood series by S.L. Scott and was utterly phenomenal! It took me a bit to write this review. I absolutely loved this book and honestly, I think it’s one of the best books I’ve read this year. Maybe it’s because I was completely invested in the characters since a lot of them came from the Kingwood Duet, and I fell in love with all of them. While I’m sure that was part of it, for me, it’s not always the words I remember, but the feeling those words evoked. And dear lord did this book deliver.

I am a no spoiler kind of girl so bear with me as I may be a little vague about the details but I will, hopefully, get you as excited to read this book as I was reading it.

Clara, or Dove as Cruise calls her, has a horrific past. She is struggling to deal just as Cruise is still fighting his demons. I am a believer is fate and if any two people were ever fated, it was Clara and Cruise.

As we saw with King and Sara Jane, when these men fall, they fall hard and fast. Cruise was no different. He saw her and knew she was it for him. Dealing with her past is a struggle, but it’s one he is willing to help her with to keep her. Just as she brings light to his dark. She’s his yellow.

“She fills a room with her light, making me forget about the darkness I usually struggle to evade.”

These two had my whole bookwhoreish heart by Chapter 2. Their love is deep and their chemistry is scorching hot. Mmmmm…I can’t forget how much I LOVE Cruise and his dirty mouth!

I was in awe of the loyalty with both these wonderfully layered characters. Not only to each other, but to the ones they love.

I cried so freaking hard when her past was revealed. Then came one hell of a twist that had me saying NO FUCKING WAY! And as it progressed and more came to light there were some holy shits and oh my gods.

“With my lips to his skin, his dark melds into mine and together we become a lighter shade of gray.”

This right here…was my absolute favorite quotes in this book. Don’t get me wrong, I highlighted like half the book, but this, this was just WOW for me. I think this describes Cruise perfectly.

“He’s an angel dressed as the devil, making me want to commit sins against the heavens.”

Just when you think the rollercoaster of emotions is coming to an end, you get hit with another what the ever loving fuck moments. This book was full of suspense, betrayal, love, and hot AF sex.

I loved this book so much and I hated that it had to end. I fell hard for these characters and wanted them to continue speaking to me. This is definitely going on my re-read list.

The war was waged. The king got his queen, but where did that leave me?

When I thought there was no hope, that suffering this lonely life was my destiny, I saw her. The bubblegum pink skirt caught my attention, but her doe eyes captured my heart. Could she be my SAVIOR?

With her, I don’t have to hide the demons that haunt me, or to relive my darkest days alone.

With me, she’s free to be whoever she wants to be. She’s amazing.

Together, we’re two people clinging to a ray of sunshine that only the other can see.

I let my guard down. I got too comfortable. I thought the war had been won when, in reality, it had just begun. When old debts accrue, past demons return to collect their dues.

To find the SOLACE these young lovers crave, will they have to sacrifice the one thing they hold most SACRED?

From New York Times bestselling author, S.L. SCOTT, comes a new, emotionally driven, romantic suspense standalone.

Blog Tour

I’m still reeling. While people approach him, he cuts a path straight to me, his gaze penetrating and target-like; making me want to bolt.

His lips do that little upward tilt they do that seems so sexy, and for a second, I feel like I’m lightheaded.

I gulp, and then feel mad at myself for acting like some idiot as fucking devil-Racer Tate reaches me, throws himself into a seat next to me, and turns to look at me expectantly with the most gorgeous grin on his face.

I don’t know what to say.
This guy has left me sort of speechless.
“So … ” I say, staring in the distance at his beat-up mustang, then at him.
“So … ” he says too, in his deep voice, his smile a little more wicked than it was two seconds ago. He glances at my mouth.
Oh god.
Why am I licking my lips?
It only made his eyes narrow and darken.

I open my mouth to speak, failing to find words. He smells like sweat and soap and shampoo, and I feel my traitorous nipples push up to my top again. Why do they do that when he’s around?

“This is illegal,” I state.

His voice is husky from exertion, and his eyes glint with laughter. “That’s why it’s fun.”

I look away from his eyes, trying to focus and clear my head. He leans over and peers into my face, his face shadowed by the moonlight and his jaw now carrying a little scruff. “Are we in agreement?” he presses.

“No.” I glare and shake my head, meeting his cocky gaze. “You’re reckless, Racer.”

“So are you, Alana.”
“It’s just … Lana.”
His brows fly up in surprise. “And a bit of a liar too.”

I purse my lips, still glaring as my gaze goes back to his car. Girls are rubbing against it as if it were him, and I find it disgusting. Why are women always acting so slutty around race car drivers and bad boys?

“You crashed your car,” I say flippantly.
“You crashed my car,” he contradicts, amused.

I laugh, then scowl in his direction. “You crashed it more. I can’t believe you were making such a fuss about me crashing into you when it was just a little kiss—”

He leans in to peck my lips—fast but firmly. “That’s a kiss.”
I lose my breath.
My eyes wide.

He eases back, lips smiling as he comes to his feet and stretches his hand out to take me by the elbow and help me to my feet.

“Let’s get out of here.” He starts walking, leading the way.
“And go where?”
“Anywhere I can get my hands on you.”

Can an illegal street racer turned race car driver be any sexier? How about a sexy race car driver whose dad is Remington “Riptide” Tate! Hang on to your hats ladies and gentlemen, it’s gonna be a wild ride!

This is book seven in the Real series, but can absolutely be read as a standalone. Different generation, same sexy goodness!

This book was so utterly fantastic! Racer Tate is defiantly his father’s son! He is confident and cocky and of course, a manwhore. Until her…

I absolutely could not put this book down!! The ups and downs and twists and turns this book had me feeling all the feels! I love how it again, brings light to BP. Not to be ashamed of it and that it can be managed. Although he had his family’s support, he didn’t know he wanted the total support of a good woman until that woman kissed his car.

”I’m Racer Tate and this girl is mine.”

Lana had a fighting spirit and was exactly what Racer needed. I loved these two together. She was always the one taking care of everyone around her. Now it’s her turn for someone to take care of her. Their passion was combustible. Their loyalty towards one another real. I fell in love with Racer and Lana.

”I’m trapped-helplessly and totally-in Racer Tate’s irresistible fire.”

I love Racer. His love story is no less than kismet, but Remy will always have my heart. He was, after all, my first book boyfriend after to Mr. Darcy.

ARC REVIEW – Scandalous by LJ Shen

Scandalous (Sinners of Saint, #3)Scandalous by L.J. Shen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I wish I could give this book more than five stars!
This book is gripping and addictive. Everyone need a HotHole in their life!

This book was written from a dual POV and I loved being able to get into the head of both characters. To see the struggle with Trent over his developing feelings for Edie was epic. As much as he tried to fight it, his downfall was imminent.

“I don’t hate you. Not even close. Not even if I try really fucking hard.”

For Edie, life was full of secrets and lies. She had to grow up too fast and was always the savior of everyone around her. But the thing with secrets is they always come out.

She was such a strong heroine and her snark and a take-no-crap attitude was endearing.

“If you want to be strong, be.”

I loved that we got to catch up with Vicious, Dean, Jaime and their families. And of course, the book wouldn’t be complete without them adding their spin on things.

“We noticed you were in each other’s faces from across the hall, and we all know that hate turns to love more often than not. So here’s my two cents – keep your crotches to yourselves, kids. Right. Fucking. Now. ”

There were a lot of twisty pieces of goodness in this little gem too! LJ had me on the edge many times and in true Shen fashion, made me fall for a damn HotHole, loving him even at his worst.

“I should warn you, Edie. I’m not the prince in this fairytale. I’m the villain. The poisonous apple, the flame-breathing monster”

This book was, as all the others in this series, a sexy, hot read and had me gripping my kindle so tightly at some points I thought it would break. I had so many gasping and OMG moments in this.

Scandalous is one of my top reads this year so far. I’m just sad this marks the end of this phenomenal series.

Keep your hands inside the ride at all times…

I’m having trouble putting into word what this book did to me. First off, I love this author. Everything she puts out I devour and when I’m done reading, I’m always wishing there was more of the book to read. I hate that it has to end.

Ms. Van Dyken wields a sword of words and slices me open exposing all the feels. This book was no different. I cried…God, I cried so much. This was not your typical love triangle. The characters were layered and had so much heart.

I was littered with feelings throughout this wonderful love story. The thoughts of the heroine were some of the same thoughts that I’ve had pinging around in my head regarding body image. I loved that the hero(s) loved her body just the way it was.

There was a twist I didn’t see it coming. The wild ride this book took me on was stunning and I not only didn’t want to put it down, I never wanted it to end.

If you are looking for a book that gives you the feels and also makes you think, this is the book to read.

ARC REVIEW ~ Mr. Big by Delancey Stewart

Mr. BigMr. Big by Delancey Stewart

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oliver Cody left everything he knew behind in search of himself, but after a devastating blow, he is more lost than ever.

Holland O’Dell has a plan. She has a list to check off and she needs to stick to it to feel in control of her life.

I thought this book was charming. The characters drew me in and I was hooked until the very last page. Did I want to junk punch Ollie at times? Yep. Did I want to slap some sense into Holland? Yep, I wanted to do that too. I loved that Holland, for the most part, was a strong, independent woman. She was in charge of her own destiny and she was going to take the world by storm. Ollie was a sad, lost man. He needed a kick to the head and Holland was just the girl to deliver that blow.

Overall, I thought the story line was a great concept. Ms. Stewart put a smart, driven heroine together with a CEO with the need to feel like he makes a difference and it worked.

ARC REVIEW ~ The Playboy Batchlor by Rachel Van Dyken

The Playboy Bachelor (The Bachelors of Arizona)The Playboy Bachelor by Rachel Van Dyken

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have never read a book by this author that I didn’t absolutely LOVE and this book was no exception. Although, this one was unique in its story-line, I would still recommend it to everyone I come across.

The Playboy Bachelor is the second book in The Bachelors of Arizona series. Just so you know, this is a true standalone. I did not read book one and usually even when authors say it’s a standalone, I end up wishing I had read the first book to completely understand what is going on. Not with this one! I jumped right in and couldn’t put it down!

Both Brantley and Margot carry the scars of their past around like a scarf dousing them in misery. Both lost and needing each other to find their way home.

This was an emotional read. I loved the sweet elements of it and that sometimes what you need to heel is a second chance on life and love.

ARC Review – Clandestine by Ava Harrison

ClandestineClandestine by Ava Harrison

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Where to start. I fell hard in the beginning of this book. Olivia was sweet, yet troubled and Spencer was your stereotypical playboy CEO and I loved every minute of it. He owned it and wasn’t one bit ashamed.

When hearts are involved, nothing is ever easy and they had an uphill battle to fight.

Just when I was starting to love Olivia, she would do something stupid that made me want to shake some sense into her. I was left feeling disappointed in her halfway through her journey to happiness. While I realize the heroine had some past addictions and current hang ups, I was hoping by this point she would have been a little stronger and learned to cope a little better than she did. I was also both taken aback and elated when her party-girl friend made a complete 180 that I didn’t see coming. Then when tragedy struck I was sad nothing was said about her again until the end.

Spencer had so much going on, yet he still allowed his feelings for Olivia to develop and grow. And of course there were heart pumping scenes that involved him as well that had me gasping WTF at my Kindle. Speaking of…Addison needs to just walk away. Seriously! This woman!

Overall, I thought this was a good read with lots of twists and turns, complex characters and a plot-line that makes you believe in true love and happily-ever-afters.

ARC Review – Beast by Elizabeth Reyes

Beast (Boyle Heights, #2)Beast by Elizabeth Reyes

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3.5 Stars.

This was the first book I had read by this author and even though it was book 2 in the series, I honestly had no troubles reading it as a standalone because the backstories were written so well.

I thought Allison was sweet, she was so strong, but smothered by her overbearing sister. Whom I was not a fan of. One of the things I loved was that as much as Leonardo fought it, their connection was too strong. I loved that he was this tough bad*** and she brought him to his knees.

There were some twists that popped up that caught me by surprise. Although I liked the characters and thought the story-line was intriguing, I just couldn’t connect with the main characters. I did, however, connect with Drew.

Overall, I thought the book had an intriguing story-line and likeable characters and would recommend this book.

ARC Review – The Forbidden by Jodi Ellen Malpas

**I was lucky to win an ARC of this amazing book and am honored to leave an honest review**

Wow! This book just…. Wow! I’m having a hard time putting into words what this book did to me. I am emotionally drained. So many twists and turns.

This book was gripping, raw and incredibly real. Annie and Jack took my heart. I found the story-line incredibly intriguing and couldn’t put this book down!

Throughout the book there are so many twists and turns. It’s both heart-wrenching and passionate. I laughed. I cried. And at times, I had to put it down and walk away for a while before continuing on.

I thought this book was so different from her previous writings. It may not be for everyone, but it will take you on an emotional journey that you won’t forget.
